Stop Being A Victim

Do you feel as though you are like a tiny pebble in the ocean being battered by the waves, a victim to the water, unable to control your journey?

One of the worst things people allow themselves to become is victims. Seeing themselves as having little or no control over their lives. When this happens they seem willing to accept all the knocks that come their way, believing this is inevitable, the way things will always be for them. In this mindset you feel sorry for yourself, seeing the world as against you, without hope and powerless to do anything about it.

If this is what you allow to happen in your life, well it’s time to fight back and stop being a victim.

[cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Eleanor Roosevelt”]“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.”[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes]

When you suffer from a victim mentality you are not taking responsibility for your own life. Instead you blame others for the bad things that happen to you and see external forces being what will shape your life. The result of this is to negatively affect everything in your life. Transferring blame and making excuses keeps you victimized.

When you feel that you’ve reached a point in life where you will settle for whatever life throws at you, you know it’s time to fight back. Maybe to many battles have knocked the stuffing out of you, many of your hopes and dreams have evaporated away, but your possibilities are endless as long as you pick yourself up, take responsibility and move forward once again.

Yes you have the power to stop this. Simply by taking personal responsibility and no longer passing the buck. We all have the ability to control our reactions and responses to what happens and the way we handle ourselves.

Getting out of a victim mentality can be hard. Some days you will slip and spiral down into a very negative place. Beating yourself up because you’ve allowed once again circumstances or other people to control you. But you need to look on the bright side and know that at least you’re noticing what you’re doing, working to put a stop to it happening.

[cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Don Miguel Ruiz”]“Don’t Take Anything Personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes]

I wrote in a previous article called Transforming the Victim Mentality  how badly I was affected by losing sight in my right eye and for a while let everything get on top of me allowing myself to become a victim. So I know how damaging it can be to your life, but I also know how you can stop it from happening.

Deciding that from now on that you will stop being a victim you have set your intentions. Now to implement change you need to empower yourself. To do this you now have to decide the four things about your life that most need to change.

Let today be the day you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking action towards the life you want. You have the power to break free from a victim mentality and start controlling your life in the right way.

Great article Larry. Our society has been assaulted by a loss of personal power and a sense that we have no control over our lives. I’m a huge advocate for taking responsibility for your actions and your life. We are affected by many things in life but we have full control over how we react to life. Victimhood is no way to go through life.
