Visualization is the method that you can use to create compelling and vivid pictures in your mind. Visualization is an amazing process. Visualization is the art of being able to see with our mind what ever it is we wish to have, be or do. Visualization enables you to create mental images sustained and energized by intensely concentrating your focus on what you want.

What’s the point of spending time visualising? The concept is simple: what your mind sees and is truly made to believe becomes your reality.
Through visualization you can actively create a state, situation, or goal that you want to physically manifest in your life. Your imagination is a very powerful tool to help your achieve what you want in life.
I can’t overstate the power of visualization.
- Visualization triggers the creative force of your subconscious mind.
- Visualization focuses your brain by programming its ‘reticular activating system’ (RAS) to find accessible resources that have always been there but have so far been unutilised.
- Visualization magnetizes and attracts to you everything you need to achieve your goal.
Your brain sees no difference whatsoever between visualizing something and actually doing it. This is best demonstrated by Jack Nicklaus
“I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in focus picture of it in my head. It’s like a colour movie. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting up high on bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes and I see the ball going there: its path, trajectory and shape, even its behaviour on landing. Then there is a sort of fade out and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.”
Jack Nicklaus pretty much plays every shot in his head before putting it into action on the course. At his prime, he was the world’s best golfer.
So how are you going to use visualization? The first step is for you to decide what you want to visualize. What positive things would you like to see in you life. Once you have made your decision, that you are absolutely certain what you want, then visualize this every single morning, bringing it to life in your mind.
When you visualize your goals as already complete each and every day, it creates a conflict in your subconscious mind between what you are visualizing and what you currently have. Your subconscious mind tries to resolve that conflict by turning your current reality into the new, more exciting vision. It goes to work finding anything that will support you in making this situation a reality. It searches for solutions.
The process of visualizing is simple. All you have to do is close your eyes and see your goals as already complete. Let’s say your goal is to own a beautiful house on the beach. Close your eyes and see yourself walking through the exact house you would like to own. Fill in all of the details. What does the exterior look like? How is it landscaped? What kind of view does it have? What do the living room, kitchen, master bedroom, dining room, family room, and den look like? How is it furnished? Go from room to room and fill in all of the details. Add in the sound of the surf lapping at the shore outside your home and the sound of kids playing on the sand. Then add in the feelings of pride of ownership, satisfaction at having achieved your goal, and the feeling of the sun on your face as you sit on your deck looking out over the ocean at a beautiful sunset
Make the images as clear and bright as possible. This goes for any goal you make. Be warned, of the opposite effect, if you are constantly feeding your mind negative, fearful, and anxious pictures—guess what?—it will achieve those, instead.
Set aside time each and every day to visualize every one of your goals as already complete. This is one of the most vital things you can do to make your dreams come true.
To begin, sit down or lay down in a quiet, undisturbed area that is as free from distractions as possible. Start with deep breathing, and picture a wave of peace moving up your body…first in your toes, up through your feet, into your legs and so on until you have covered all parts of the body. For a few minutes, don’t try to visualize. Just feel the absolute peace and calmness moving through your body and picture all stress leaving your body with each exhale.
Once you feel relaxed, start allowing images to float into your mind of whatever it is you want to visualize. Let’s say, for example, you want to own that beach house as I’ve mentioned above. Picture it in your head. When any other thoughts come in, you know those distracting thoughts, immediately push those thoughts aside and get back to your visualization.
Here are a few suggestions to help make your visualization more powerful and successful:
- Always begin your visualization in a relaxed state.
- See, hear, and feel as much detail as possible.
- Use all your senses.
- Maintain control over your imagery.
- To strengthen the effect of your image, make it brighter, more colorful, closer, larger, louder, and sharper.
- Enjoy the process.
Visualization is a wonderful power. Visualization is one of the most powerful things you can do on a regular basis to achieve your goals and become the person you want to be. Use this power consciously and continuously to create the kind of future you want for yourself.
