How Satisfied Are You With Your Life?

What does it mean to be satisfied with life? First let us look to see what the word satisfied means. According to the Free dictionary it’s when you are filled with satisfaction; content with things as they are.

“Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you’re living?” Bob Marley

So look at every area of your life and ask yourself the question. : Are you finding that your life is full of joy, inner strength and satisfaction, or one of more disappointments. Are you humming the Rolling Stones classic ‘I can’t get no satisfaction…’

So many of you are just reading on, well stop and take some time for reflection. I may be a blogger, but I’m more a personal development coach and I’m not writing for my self gratification, I’m writing to help and support you.

It’s important to every now and again to assess where you are in life. So stop for a moment and take a look at your current life: health (including diet, fitness, stress-level, emotional wellness, etc), career & finances, friends & family relationships, your intimate relationship(s), personal (mental, spiritual, and emotional) growth, and over all satisfaction and happiness of life. Look at each and answer the question just for yourself ‘Are you satisfied with this area in the life you’re living?’

For those areas you see that you’re not doing as well as you need to be or want to be it doesn’t matter. Because now you’ve taken time to notice. Once you see what is wrong with things in your life you’re giving yourself the opportunity to deal with them and get them sorted.

You see you have to carry with you a belief that your life can and will get better. It’s in your hands. You are the mechanic of your life’s engine, once you diagnose problems you can fix them.

You want to work on your life all the time. It’s like a stone statue you are continuously chipping away at it until you create exactly what you want. It takes time, but one day you will be able to say that you are satisfied with the way things are right now, with the way you’re life is going? You will truly be satisfied with the life you’re living.

The only kind of life that is worth living is the kind of life that allows you to experience the joys of being alive. Life, you see, is a precious thing, and we only ever get one shot at it. Don’t be satisfied with how your current life is right now if it doesn’t feel right. Make the effort to put things right. It’s time for you to start living the life you’ve always dreamed you’d be living because the good news is it isn’t impossible to make dreams a reality.

Ask yourself some questions:

  • How healthy are you?
  • How much stress are you under?
  • How well are you dealing with the stress and pressure in your life?
  • Are you working your dream job living your passion?
  • If not, what would it be like if you were?
  • Are you an emotional mess, or are you happy and established?
  • How often do you laugh every day?
  • Do you take the time each time to notice your ‘wow’ moments?
  • Do you have a positive attitude towards your life?
  • Do you do things which make you happy?
  • Do you smile even in times of your greatest difficulties?
  • Do you have a positive, encouraging partner, groups of friends and work colleagues?
  • Do you believe in yourself and what you’re doing?

You may not be where you’d ideally like to be in every area of life, but once you realise the areas you’re off the mark then and only then you can do something about them.
