Follow Your Heart In Life And Business

You only get one life and I strongly suggest you follow your heart in life and business. You’re going through life thinking everything is fine, if a little bit tough. Then something starts to happen, you feel it stirring deep in your gut. You don’t know what it is at first, and you try to ignore it. But it begins to fester and to grow. You realise life needs to be more than it is right now, to this point you have followed a route that seemed safe, that maybe others have guided you down. But now everything within you is raising questions, challenging you to step up and make far more of this time in your life, to no longer allow yourself to be less than you can be.

Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. Eleanor Roosevelt

One of the hardest things to do in life is to follow your heart. Not what you friends, family, teachers, boss and society tell you that you should be doing, but what your heart is guiding you to do.

Often you have a little voice in your head that tells what the right thing is or maybe it’s just a gut feeling, but your heart that will always lead you to do what’s right. Not necessarily what others want you to do, nor what maybe that ‘doubting’ voice in your head would support either. It wants you to play safe, take the easy option, keep your head down, and keep on living a life of mediocrity but without taking many risks. Yet the messages keep coming, how long can you avoid them.

Your heart is connected to something much bigger than you. It will lead you on the path you need for fulfilment, you just have to develop a trust within yourself and be ready to enjoy the ride. Your ambition, your goals, your dreams are yours, are you going to bring them into fruition or let them die.

I meet too many people who are not following their hearts who long ago gave up on their dreams. You can see it in their face, eyes and body posture. It shows that they are simply living and doing what they are doing because they have to, they live what I call a ‘life of obligations’.

The choice to follow our heart and do what we truly want in life, can be a challenging one. It shouldn’t be, but it is. It requires courage, commitment, inner strength and fearlessness, and as a result it is a path that is often not pursued.

Rather than listening to our heart many of us suppress and deny the feelings it emanates. We would rather choose a life that does not deeply fulfil us simply because it provides security, certainty, safety and approval from others.

But the cost of this is too great. Often you have to give up on your amazing, beautiful dreams and desires. That’s not the way life was designed to be. We are not meant to suppress and ignore our dreams, pretend they’re not important to us, continue with the status quo.

Instead every one of us owes it to ourselves to dig deep inside and find out what we really want from this life? Take a look inside your heart and ask yourself what you would love to do more than anything else in the world. Then find the courage to do it!

I want you to know anything is possible for you, you simply have to wake up and connect with what you really want. And then take action to get it. You need to take risks and have the courage to move towards your dream.

When you begin to follow your heart, you must realise that anything that is not line with your heart’s calling will start to fall away but the world will become a more beautiful place because everyone will be following their very own dreams.
