Morning Meditation Routine

Having a morning meditation routine is something that I recommend very highly and I can also claim that I’ve found it life changing. You need to create time for morning meditation as this will be a wonderful new habit for transforming your mornings. I assure you that taking 5 to 10 minutes for quiet reflection will make a huge difference to how you face up to the challenges of the day. You will be far more ready to take on anything that comes your way.

I find Meditation an incredible way to empty my mind, letting go of all the activity that is normally taking place in my head. It takes me to a point of mental rest. It’s not that hard to do. I’m not suggesting some ritual style of deep soulful meditation, but an easy method to focus your attention; quieten your thoughts; and then as you progress through practice you will learn to completely empty your mind of all thoughts for the period during which you meditate. It brings you a beautiful peace. I’m sounding quite a mellow, chilled out person today, that’s the wonders of meditation. It will help anybody chill out, recharge, prepare themselves for the coming day.

In this stressed out modern world I can’t believe that there are going to be too many of my readers who wouldn’t benefit from this practice. It’s worth the time you commit to it. All you are doing is making some time to get yourself centred before all those external influences that come your way every day have a chance to shape your mind for the day ahead. By doing meditation you are taking the opportunity to shape your day. The benefits that you will feel on completing your meditation will be there with you for the rest of your day.

Every day when you wake up the world is your oyster, nothing is decided, your day is yet to be made. You have literally a blank canvas onto which you ‘paint thoughts and emotions’. By meditating every morning you are allowing yourself to take control of your very own canvas, and start your day fresh and in control of both your mind and thoughts. It will enable you to tackle the events of the day in a new found confident way. It really is that powerful.

Let me offer you a very simple meditation routine that is going to help you get started. I urge you to try it, you will not regret it, and more importantly you’ll be amazed at the differences it brings about for you. Five to ten minutes will be adequate which really isn’t a lot of time. No matter what excuses you can come out with, the simple truth is every one of you can find the time to do this.

Find a quiet place to go so that you can avoid all distractions and any possible interruptions.

Sit comfortably on a large pillow or cushion so as to minimize discomfort in your body and enhance your ability to breathe.

You now will reach a calm relaxed state of mind by focusing on your own breathing. Just focus on your breathing, pay attention to every breath, to each movement, every exhale and inhale, watch and feel as the breath moves in and out of your body, pay attention to your own natural rhythm.

Any thoughts that enter your mind just let them go, don’t give them any focus. Accept they are there but remain detached from them. Let them gradually melt away. As you do this more and more this will become easier to do.

To further keep your attention solely to your breathing try counting your breaths from 0 to 9, try visualizing the actual numbers changing on each breath.

If your attention wanders, just bring it back to your breathing. The mind at times will meander away from your breathing. That’s a normal part of meditation. Don’t berate yourself just return your attention to your breathing.

Stay with your breathing for around 10 to 15 minutes. When you decide to end your meditation session, rise slowly up and go about your day.

Just enjoy this process. Try it for a week, I promise you by the end of 7 days you will notice the difference throughout your day and will make this a regular routine every morning.
