Turn the lemons life throws at you into lemonade?

A recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

So life has dealt you a bad hand. What are you going to do? Succumb to it or find the solutions to your problems. You must be looking for solutions otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this post.
The only thing you can control is how you respond to a bad hand in life.  You can allow it to drag you down into the dark rat hole. You can wallow in self pity. You can puke over everybody else. Or you can see it is an opportunity to grow and turn things around. Adversity is the greatest teacher of opportunity.

A recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Step number one in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Recognise your adversity as an opportunity to grow. Don’t give up be buoyant in the knowledge that out of the ashes flourishes a whole new forest.

Step number two in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Show gratitude for what you have.  Focus on the good things in your life. This will allow you to emit positive emotions. Once you are living your life in the positive emotions you begin attracting positive things towards you. This is the beginning of turning lemons into lemonade. The story that comes to mind for me here is my wise mentors story. Michael Dlouhy’s friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was not given long to live. Michael’s friend refused chemotherapy. He decided to attend the cancer clinic with his guitar. Instead of wallowing in self pity he played music for all the patients. This warmed the spirits of so many desolate people including his own. To cut a long story short Michael’s friend went on to live for another fifteen years without any treatment .

Step number three in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Craft a plan to make things better. Take stock of your situation and assess it for what it is. When you are down as far as you can possibly go the only thing left is to get back up again. How you do this is very important. Make sure you have learnt from the past. Don’t dwell on it but make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes again. Usually you are down in the rat hole because life is teaching you a lesson. Make sure you learn what it is. This becomes the starting point of your plan to make things better.

Step number four  in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Reach out for help. You cant do it on your own. Once you reach out and ask for help you will be amazed at how much help you will actually get.

Step number five in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Your plan will need faith and perseverance. Make sure you live by these key ingredients and never ever give up.

Step number six in our recipe for turning lemons into lemonade.

Don’t be afraid. Fear fuels negativity and completely destroys the recipe. It will not work if there is fear associated with your plan.

How can you outwit fear?

Recognise the fear for what it is. Often it is not real. You have fabricated it into something that scares you. It’s your mind dwelling on past experiences and using these to sum up a new situation.

The solution is of course to live in the now. When you live in the now. You make the best decisions based on the information at your disposal for each and every situation. This means that the future is in good hands because you have  made the right decision. The best part is that the past remains in the past.

I will conclude with the opening phrase here because this is what you can control. How you react to what life has dealt you will be what shapes your life.

    Good post Loddy,
Life has a way of giving you a zinger now and then, sometimes situations hang around far to long, once I’m invited to a pity party, it’s up to me how long I stay or even if I go! Usually the party is not the kind I like. It lacks smiles, fun, a healthy feeling body, a zest for living, a desire for people to be around, no happy music, and there is no sun.
I’ve been there I guess a couple of times, but like you say, allow friends to help you get back in the swing of things and learn from whatever put you in that miserable state.
My R.S.V.P. to pity parties from now on is, will not be able to attend, you can suck the lemons and I’ll drink the lemonade!
Helping others is one of the absolute best ways to turn everything around. Learn your passion, work with it, and always be grateful and thankful for everything that has helped you in life!

Hello Judy and thank you for your comment. I love your statement about other choosing not to suck lemons but drink lemonade instead.
Abundance is all around us and we have to make the choice to let it into our lives. Once we do this we do indeed drink lemonade.
