An Attitude Of Gratitude Is Important For Your Health

An important fact for you to know is that you can free up emotional and physical energy, providing your health with a boost, by having an attitude of gratitude.

By harnessing the power of a positive attitude through being thankful and having an attitude of gratitude can simply transform your life.

Grateful people are happier people. They are healthier and less stressed. They report much higher levels of satisfaction with their relationships and are more likely to avoid adversity and attract abundance. Those who cultivate thankfulness are happier and healthier than those who don’t.

Gratitude is a powerful and transforming attitude toward life. It is powerful because when we feel grateful our perception of things also changes. Alas Gratitude is generally underestimated and gets easily pushed to the background as life demands and responsibilities take hold of our attention.

We are told to be grateful for what we already have in our life, to remind ourselves how lucky we are.

How often do you stop to reflect on all the wonderful relationships and things you have in your life that you are grateful for? Alas too many people have forgotten how to be grateful. Some don’t think they have anything to be grateful for.

I know a lot of people struggle with this because they believe their life is full of problems not good things. They say to be grateful for how life is would be fake. I used to say to them find anything no matter how small that you could be grateful for. As an example, the first breath they take every morning waking up, or their ability to breath all day long.

“Start each day with a positive thought and a grateful heart.” Roy T. Bennett

Yet I now question if being grateful for what we’ve got is what we should be grateful for.

Don’t get me wrong, developing a positive and thankful way of thinking, stopping taking for granted all the tiny good moments that are already happening is a great way to be.

You can only benefit by spending time being grateful, maybe for what you have, or maybe something else, because it helps you concentrate on the positive, versus the negative.

But I know many of you will ask ‘What do I Have to be Thankful for.’ That is how I felt during my period of serious ill health.

I know we should be thankful for our families, the roof over our head, the food in our fridge, and even the water we get through our taps. Yet when every day I was struggling to even get out of bed, and once I managed this I’d be fighting the need to go back to bed, I found it so hard to find anything to be grateful for since there seemed to be nothing working in my life at this time.

At this time, being grateful seemed to defy common sense. But did it?

One day I made the decision to rekindle my spiritual self and found my way to a community local to me. I found myself welcomed and comfortable there. Within a short space of time I began to establish my faith, and this proved to be a massive transformational point in my battle to return to good health.

Now don’t panic I haven’t become a bible basher, but I have learnt something that I do want to share with you.

When we want to transform our life through the power of gratitude then there is a fantastic way of doing this that I assure you will help you to develop a positive outlook and become a source of comfort, motivation and positive perspective, all of which will serve as a real anchor in your life.

All you need to do is say one hundred blessings daily.

Yep, you read this right. I’m telling you to say one hundred blessings every day.

Making a spiritual blessing, giving thanks to god can be incredibly healing.

If you believe in God, then you will realise that every day offers an opportunity to restore our soul, and our belief, our faith in our god who sustains the living, raises the fallen and heals the sick, brings our attitude of gratitude to an incredibly higher level. Who else could perform such mighty deeds?

Let me share this blessing with you.

“We declare with gratitude that You are our God and the God of our ancestors. You are our rock, the rock of our life and the shield that saves us. In every generation we thank You and recount Your praise for our lives held in Your hand, for our souls that are in Your care, and for the signs of Your presence that are with us every day. At every moment, at evening, morning and noon, we experience Your wonders and Your goodness. You are goodness itself, for Your mercy has no end. You are mercy itself, for Your love has no limit. Forever have we put our hope in You.”

This simple demonstration of my faith, and my belief in the power of showing gratitude, and my willingness to make 100 blessings a day was transformation. I learnt the true power of gratitude.

I know many people fear that they don’t know the right way to make a blessing, or the right words to use, scared they’ll get it wrong, so they don’t do it. This is a mistake.

Informal, or spontaneous blessings will suffice just fine.

How do you think an attitude of gratitude might change you as a person?

Do you think it could indeed make things better in your life?

Find out for yourself by focusing time on making one hundred blessings in your life every day?

So, your turn now. What or who are you grateful for?
