Never Let Go Of Hope

One day you will see that it all has finally come together.

What you have always wished for has finally come to be.

You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself,
“How did I get through all of that?”

Just never let go of hope.

Just never quit dreaming.

And never let love depart from your life.

~ Jancarl Campi ~

This post was inspired by a comment I’ve recently received. I won’t say which one, or who from, but I do hope you read this, and know.

Is your life just going around and around in a circle while you “wait”. What are you waiting for? You’re waiting for that day when life will just suddenly happen. You probably don’t even know what that sudden strike of lightning will consist of but you tell yourself that you’ll know it when you see it.

You just go on seeing what life offers and maybe you’ll be able to take the opportunity when it comes, but maybe you won’t. You’ll just wait and see what happens, and while you wait you continue to go round and around in the same circle, day in, day out. On and on life goes and you keep waiting. You work hard. Struggle on. Sometimes life seems to be a real effort, and you feel as though you’re getting nowhere. You don’t see or feel that you ever are getting anywhere, no matter what you’re doing. Day after day passes and soon year after year has passed and you’re still “waiting”.

Are you feeling a bit down on your luck, feeling sorry for yourself, or do you have a pessimist outlook on life, and therefore you find it hard to evaluate yourself in order to move forward?

The one thing you know is that there has to be so much more to life than this and you deserve so much more. Of course at time you tell yourself that life will never get any better, it’s always going to be a struggle, and you’ll never fulfil your dreams, which you gave up on years ago anyway.

Well as I have said before, and I’m always happy to repeat again and again, you can make it all happen just by making the decision to take control of your life. Once you have made that decision you can take control of your life just by changing your thoughts.

I mentioned in a recent comment that I found I’d placed my ladder up against the wrong wall. Seeing this enabled me to move forward in a promising new direction and map my new course in life. So no matter how futile and hopeless right now things seem to be, you can still make the changes.

At this moment I had to determine my “Life Directions”, the direction I wanted my life to head. I asked myself the following questions

• what’s working in my life

• what’s not working

• what direction do I want to go in

• what things do I want to have happen in my life

• what new things or ideas I want to explore

Before you can ramp up your life, you need to look at some of the factors that may influence the way you act, particularly the one’s that are holding you back, and stopping you building the life you truly want.

Habits: What habits have you acquired? Are these habits creating a life of success or failure? It is so simple to adopt bad habits which become part of your normal routine, and which you feel safe and secure with. These bad habits can hold you back from achieving your dreams. In some cases bad habits are so ingrained into who you are, you don’t realize that they are robbing you of the life you want. Getting into a routine of good habits is imperative to your future personal achievements. To form a habit takes repeated effort. You will need to practice and do something over and over until that habit is formed. To keep from being held back from creating the life you want you have to determine and get rid of your unproductive habits.

Time: We are all given the same amount of time. 24 hours a day, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute It is what you do with it that counts. H. Jackson Brown tells us,”Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.” If you use your time in unproductive ways it will hamper your personal growth. Finding ways to manage your time effectively is crucial to your success. Learn to schedule your time, get organised and have lists of things you need to accomplish. Avoid procrastinating and time wasting practices.

Motivation: At times it can be so difficult to find the will to just get going. You can have the best meaning in the world but without the motivation to truly do it you won’t get where you want to go. Keep determined to stay motivated and avoid any further procrastination. You might have to battle with yourself because it is easy to put things off and say you will do something at a later time. Sometimes you will need to push yourself to get you going and force yourself to stay motivated.

Attitude: Each day we play a massive part in determining the attitude we are going to have. We all face challenges and it is your attitude toward them that will determine our success. Taking time to evaluate your attitude is important both to your well being and personal growth. It can take effort a to make changes in bad or indifferent attitudes. If you can practice changing your attitudes even a little bit at a time you will be taking steps in the right direction. Try to feed your mind positive things and surround yourself with positive people. Stay answerable to yourself by keeping your attitude in check with the goals you are trying to achieve. Seek people, books and resources that will help you stay positive.

Fear: Many people are held back by fear. What kind of fear could be so intense that a person would rather hold back from doing something and be willing to suffer the negative outcome rather than go ahead with things that that they really want to achieve? There is an assortment of fears that debilitate people from taking action. The most common one is the fear of failure or judgment by others. Those who are terrified of not being good enough usually put off finishing anything to avoid criticism. Their greatest fear is looking foolish or stupid. Fear of failure, Fear of success, Fear of the future or Fear of authority, can all hold you back from moving forward.

Think as if : Negative thinking will get you nowhere. Your present circumstances are the result of your past thinking and your future will be the result of what you are thinking now. Your thoughts have to be higher than your present circumstances for you to rise higher. Constantly tell yourself that you already have what you are striving for. If you do this, your behaviours and mental images will complement with those thoughts and take you closer to your goals.

Aim high – Think about the goals you have set for yourself. Are they really the most that you are capable of? Chances are, you’re better than you think and you can do things that you previously never thought possible. Everyone has potential inside of them like a seed but you need to elevate your thoughts to harmonise with that potential. If the goals you have set for yourself are mediocre, aim for higher ones, and tell yourself that you’re good enough to achieve them. You’ll only attempt what you think you can do.

Do what you love – Only by doing what you love will you have enough motivation to persist during times of difficulty. All you have to do is look at the things that excite you, interest you, motivate you to find a way to profit from them. This could very well be the best way to achieve outstanding success.

If you’re just waiting for life to happen and waiting to see what life offers you, how is life going to know what to offer you when you don’t even know what you want? You need to take control of your life and decide what you want. Once you do, then you’re well on your way to achieving your goals.

Now go and exceed your expectations!

Around here we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things. – Walt Disney

Well said Larry, Motivation is a big part of life yet we still need to have the inspiration that will by definition motivate us.

Hmm I never planned this journey I am on. How I found myself here is beyond me. Life sometimes pushes you onto a road that you have no clue about. The key is to discover the journey and the gifts that given. To throw away those gifts means to throw away your future or path of finding your inner jewel.
