5 Steps To Finding Your Passion

You may be one of those people who needs to take steps to finding your passion because at this time you have no idea what you’re passionate about. It is important for you to find out what it is because passion can revitalise you and drive you forward in your journey of life. You need to be asking yourself what interests you so intensely that you would love to be spending time doing it.

I am somebody that has built my life and business round my passions and this makes sure I love getting up every morning. I feel years younger than I actually am, and I simply love the work I’m doing. I believe that my passion has brought out my ambitions in bucket falls, I want to achieve so much more now with my life than I did before.

What an unbelievable difference there is between those like me who love their work, with what seems to be the vast majority who dread getting up every morning and going to work. Yes my experience shows that a majority of people seem unhappy with their jobs. The day I decided to pursue the work I love was probably one of the most important days of my life. I now live a life on a daily basis where I am fired up by the work I am doing, it is energising and so exciting. It was a life changing decision.

It was Benjamin Disraeli who once said, “Man is only great when he acts from passion.”

From the minute I decided to follow my dreams and do work I love, life has been an exciting adventure ever since. There have been many challenges on this journey but none which have ever made me think of giving it all up. The only thing that I could ever be sad about is I didn’t start earlier. I remember about 12 years ago seeing Tony Robbins on stage and thinking to myself I would love to do the type of things he does. So why did it take me so long before I got started.

There’s no doubts that it’s a scary thing to do, to make a decision to turn your back on whatever it is you’ve been doing and go off in a different direction where you build a career or business around your passions.

I wish I’d known far earlier that there is no better way to live a truly incredible life. I have so much to give. Being somebody that loves personal development, both acquiring more knowledge for myself and passing it on to others, to be building a members resource area on my beloved blog which I believe will become a top personal development resource on the internet in time is simply inspiring to me.

Supporting this by being able to build ecommerce shops that will be selling top quality, world famous brands of sport, fitness and health products, well that to me is still astonishing, and I truly can’t believe all these things have come together for me so quickly.

What we have been able to do in the last year seems to defy all logic. It seems a magical helping hand seems to be holding on to us and guiding us to where we need to go. I’m not a religious man, but I do believe in God. I truly believe that when you empower your life by following your passions, and you endeavour to put in everything you have to helping others believing in making the difference you are connecting yourself to a power that is far greater than anything that can energise your life and dare I say your success.

To me true happiness and success have come my way ever since I not just discovered my passions but I brought them and me into building a business around them. I guess if I interviewed a thousand successful entrepreneurs a vast majority would tell me that their winning formula was very much based around being passionate about what you do.

Who would have guessed one year ago that I would be building a potentially huge business round one of my big passions, sport. Certainly not me. It wasn’t on my radar. I had loved sport from a very young age. It has been one of my undying passions ever since. But never once did I consider building a sport something business. Yet I now am and it’s so exciting and thrilling. There is going to be so much opportunity for me to then write about sport which is equally my passion to personal development. So being able to spend much of my time writing on both, well its simply awesome.

All this has been provided to me by one simple decisions, to follow my passions. For me to find my passions was simple. My life and interests have always been about exercise, training with weights, healthy lifestyle living, personal development and my long term hobby of sport. I am now running a business that connects every one of them together. I’m still shaking myself checking this isn’t just a dream.

Every one of you needs to empower your life in some way. Finding your passion and bringing it to the centre of your life is what I would recommend wholeheartedly. Your first step, of course is to find your passions.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What puts a smile on your face?
  • What do you find easy?
  • What ignites your creativity?
  • What would you love to do even if you were not getting paid?
  • What do you like to talk about the most, the topic that brightens you up, changes your body language?
  • What makes you unafraid of failure where you have total confidence in your abilities?
  • If you were at the end of your life, what would you regret not having pursued?

Frederick Buechner wrote this: “Vocation is where our greatest passion meets the world’s greatest need.”

Working in the gym industry for as long as I did made it obvious in my mind where my passions could help the world in a way that was certainly needed. Obesity, diabetes and so many other illnesses were on the rise. We know how important physical exercise is, but without other factors it is almost ineffective. What’s the point of exercising an hour a day when for the rest of that day you’re eating badly, stressed to high heaven and doing nothing about this, living with a negative mindset where you don’t believe anything good can happen to you, and you burn the midnight oil getting the barest minimum of sleep ever night.

I realised that my love for personal development and knowledge for everything healthy lifestyle could be used in a far better more meaningful way, and this is what firstly brought me to blogging and secondly to build an ecommerce business bring quality products that could help people in all these different areas.

Once you discover the power of passions your life will never be the same again. So identify things you love that you’re good to discover your potential passions. What would you love to spend hours doing? What pursuits hold the potential to light up your day and bring you success in the business world?

Most people don’t believe it’s possible to have a passionate career I’m here to tell you that you most certainly can. The entrepreneurial adventure in my mind is dependent on building a business around your passions. But don’t enter into this thinking that you will make a brilliant living overnight. It doesn’t work like this. It can take years before you achieve initial success and start making big inroads, but once you do then there will be no looking back. The best news of all is you will enjoy the journey almost as much as the final destination that you reach, and that is a place called success and life time achievement.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thurman

So, what is the world’s greatest need, according to you? Where would your passions collide with this need?
