The Best Use Of Your Time And Energy

If you’re serious about transforming your success you have to make the best use of your time and energy. It was Bill Gates who said “Your time is a valuable resource.” Now he certainly can’t be wrong.

To often you are ignoring those things that are most important because you’re getting caught up spending a majority of your time putting out fires, or dealing with one crises after another.

You need to be asking yourself one question every single day “is this the best way for me to use my time and energy?”

A principle you need to be putting into your life is that you’ll only work on the things that yield the biggest return on your investment of time and let other people do the rest as this ensures you’re making the best use of your time and energy. Simply the fact that you are capable of something doesn’t mean you should spend your time and energy doing it.

The truth is that if you want to accomplish everything you wish to do with your life you must be selective to how you spend your time . It is to important a commodity to throw away.

This is something Neil and I are still trying to come to terms with in our business. We are both perfectionists, and always feel the need to do everything ourselves because we know we’ll do it better than anyone else. We haven’t cracked this completely yet but know it will ultimately make a huge difference in our business.

There aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything, we all know that. So many of you are driven by those crammed full ‘ to-do’ lists yet never have enough time in a day to get it completed. It drives you to extreme levels of frustration.

I look at this from my perspective and current workload. Should I be spending time blogging on one or all of my three blogs, loading products in our ecommerce stores, participating in social networks like Facebook or Twitter, work on my eBooks or one of the other many jobs awaiting me.

How do I decide what to do?

Simple really. I ask myself a question. “What is the best use of my time right now? What will give me the most value for my day?”

In today’s day and age we can easily become overwhelmed with our workload. This will cause stress, potentially illness and then lost work days. It is this feeling of not being capable of dealing with the many tasks or situations facing us that makes us lose control and ends up in chronic stress and fatigue.

Well its crazy to allow this to happen, when one thing can not only stop it but also allow you to be moving forward every day. We can effectively take back control over our lives. I’m not suggesting one of those wonderful time management techniques that seem to be all over the internet, but simply determining for ourselves where the best use of our time is going to be. Namely as I said determining the activity that will bring you the greatest value.

I love the inspiration that great quotes can give us, so let me give you the words of some wonderful people to help you to start making the best use of your time and energy.

[cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Steve Jobs”]Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes] [cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Thomas J. Watson”]Wisdom is the power to put our time and our knowledge to the proper use.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes] [cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Ingvar Kamprad”]Time is your most important resource. You can do so much in ten minutes. Ten minutes, once gone, are gone for good. Ten minutes are not just one-sixth of your hourly pay. Ten minutes are a piece of yourself. Divide your life into ten-minute units and sacrifice as few of them as possible in meaningless activity.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes] [cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”J.Willard Marriott”]A man should keep on being constructive, and do constructive things. He should take part in the things that go on in this wonderful world. He should be someone to be reckoned with. He should live life and make every day count, to the very end. Sometimes it’s tough. But that’s what I’m going to do.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes] [cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Jeff Bezos”]A lot of people – and I’m just not one of them – believe that you should live for the now. I think what you do is think about the great expanse of time ahead of you and try to make sure that you’re planning for that in a way that’s going to leave you ultimately satisfied. This is the way it works for me.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes] [cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Tony Robbins”]Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes]
