Keep Your Dreams Alive

Do you want to make your dreams come true?

We have all had grandiose plans for ourselves at one point or another. You used to dream of those things that you wanted more than anything else in the world. But then life and it struggles took over. What happened to all of those dreams?

The definition of the word ‘dream’ can be broken down into the following:

  • a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.
  • the sleeping state in which this occurs.
  • an object seen in a dream.
  • an involuntary vision occurring to a person when awake.
  • a vision voluntarily indulged in while awake; daydream;  reverie.

(Reference Dictionary.com)

Brian Tracy states that “all successful men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.”

I allow my mind to drift off into a dream world to see my imagined future. Having a dream gives you the benefit of knowing where you want to end up at. It gives you the opportunity to strategise, plan and execute steps to achieve them. You know where you want to go. You dreamed the destination. All you now have to do is make the journey.

So you don’t have the time to sit around, think and stare into space. Life is far too hectic, you’re pushed to the limit, burning the midnight oil just to get all your work done. Please take this one pice of advise: Dreaming is a necessity not a luxury. Dreaming shapes your possible future. It gives you the chance to design the life you really want. As our ancestors gazed at the stars so their imaginations were stimulated and many an invention was born. So allow yourself the time to invent your life.

If you constantly worry about time you will create very little in your life.

Are you one of those who have too much to do and so little time to do it in? One of those people that hasn’t the time to fulfil your dreams? Not even time to dream?

I know that life gets busy. We all claim, “I have no time!” We are doing so many things everyday just to stay afloat of our obligations. I know you could find the window of opportunity in your week, somewhere, that you can stop, if only for a few moments, to jot down the things you want in your life, or just to day dream.  Make this time for dreaming. If you think you’re too busy, start with 5 minutes a day. 5 minutes! Everybody has 5 minutes to do something.

It’s too easy to allow all those urgent tasks to dominate your life. To hold you where you are. To prevent you growing. Well don’t allow them to anymore. There are too many things that you’d love to do “someday”, but you’re not even giving yourself the time to think about them. All I’m suggesting you do, is make a little time to dream about the things that are most important to you in life. Things that you really want to happen.

“Yesterday is but a vision, and tomorrow is only a dream. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a dream of hope.” Anonymous

So, you’re still not convinced that you can find the time to dream. Ok, let me just get you to ask yourself one question, ‘If you continue along your present course, where will you end up five years from now? Does the answer to this excite you, or do you think you need to make the time to dream?

Surely you can see that you have to stop for a moment and think about what your aspirations really are. Take a moment and just fantasise. Let your mind wander. So now ask yourself ‘what do you really want?’ What you need to do now is set yourself some goals – and then go about making them happen.

‘What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?’ Think about all the major areas of your life – family, relationships, career, spiritual development. What would you really love to happen? What would you really like to learn? What skills do you want to master? How much money do you want to accumulate?

Never stop dreaming because if you do, then you lose your vision of the future. You have nothing to inspire you, to motivate you, you’re just back to the normal mundane tasks you have to do day by day. Just getting through the day, then repeating it all over again tomorrow. Instead draw inspirations from your dreams, see everything coming true and then, get started to make it a reality.

When you start taking those first steps towards living your dreams, your life suddenly gets exciting.  Your life will keep getting better, and before long you realise that there is no limit to how good your life can become. You just have to keep dreaming.

Did you know your brains don’t know the difference between something you imagine (dream) or reality? So the more you dream and imagine, visualize the more the brain would like to take that action! Believe me, it works!

“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” William Arthur Ward

When did you last make time to dream? When did you last consciously allow your thoughts to go into the future of your dreams? What if, today, you allowed yourself to see your perfect self, your perfect life, your perfect world? What would that look like? What would it feel like?

The Law of Attraction teaches us that life will follow our thoughts.  If you think it and believe it, your subconscious mind will make you achieve it.  Think your dreams and make them happen.

Give your self a push in a positive direction today. Dream your way to a positive life, let them and stir up your desire for a better self.

“Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.”  David Joseph Schwartz

What is your dream that excites you day by day? Are you taking time to dream? Think about it, and write it for yourself in my comment section.

Have a great weekend and take that first step to making your dreams come true. Start Dreaming! See you Monday.
